More than Half of Americans Would Pay $500 to Skip Winter

#BringBackSummer Helps Cure America’s Desire for Warm Weather

 

NEW YORK, February 3, 2015 – While five hundred dollars is enough to buy a new iPad®, Playstation® or flat screen TV, more than half of all Americans say they would spend $500 to bring back summer. A survey by Travelzoo (NASDAQ:TZOO), which was conducted during the Blizzard of 2015, also revealed that wintery conditions make most Americans sad, 75 percent claim winter hurts them physically, mentally and emotionally.

To share America’s collective dislike for the dark days of winter, Travelzoo is getting behind #BringBackSummer, a social media hashtag where users can share why they want to bring back summer.

"While winter certainly offers a degree of serenity, digging oneself out of a foot of snow or being alerted to the third consecutive school snow day, can get old quickly. It’s no surprise most Americans would pay $500 to fast-forward to summer,” said Andrew Young, senior editor for Travelzoo. “We hope people can have a little fun venting their winter blues with the #bringbacksummer hashtag.”
