Londoners to Star in Travelzoo's first Tube Campaign
Travelzoo, the UK's top travel and entertainment deals provider, is embarking on its first above-the-line advertising campaign, which will tap into the passion Travelzoo's audience has for the weekly Top 20 newsletter and feature London members.
The Tube campaign will launch at the beginning of October across the London Underground. In order to find models to star in the creative, Travelzoo is launching a recruitment drive via social media and on digital cross-track advertising in 50 London Underground stations over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
This weekend's recruitment drive will use the hashtag #tubeface, and Travelzoo fans are asked to send in a photo of themselves via email, Facebook, Instagram or Twitter explaining briefly why they love Travelzoo. The company hopes to find subscribers from across the capital that truly personify the Travelzoo brand and are passionate about exploring the world one amazing deal at a time.
Glyn Owen, Travelzoo UK's head of marketing explained, "Our members are at the heart of what we do. Their loyalty and trust in our Deal Experts to source the best travel offers is what drives the success of our weekly Top 20. To date our UK audience has grown to several million people through digital marketing but also largely by word of mouth; we now want to amplify our brand reach with some above-the-line advertising. We felt that tapping into this loyal community who are as crazy about travel deals as we are would be an interesting approach. We also just want to have some fun with the campaign by making our subscribers the stars of it".
Travelzoo hopes that this campaign will raise awareness of the brand and educate people about the nature of the Top 20 in particular, which is a hand-selected roundup of the week's very best travel and entertainment deals. Travelzoo's marketing team have found that little is known of the hard work the company's Deal Experts do to fact-check, price-check and test-book potential deals before they are considered for the weekly Top 20. The company hopes to bring this "deal DNA" to the fore in future campaigns.
