Travelzoo Reveals Its 5 Wow Deal Destinations for 2016

To help savvy UK travellers wanting to make a start on deal hunting for next year’s holidays, the deal experts at Travelzoo have created a list of 2016 Wow Deal Destinations.

This isn’t just any “best-of” or “must-see” round-up though; by reviewing new flight routes, currency fluctuations and the latest information from the many travel companies Travelzoo works with, our deal experts have identified the key destinations they think will offer value for money in 2016.

Louise Hodges, Travelzoo spokesperson, said, “We are seeing a trend for increasingly affordable long-haul travel next year due to a combination of new flights routes opening up and the impact of the strong British pound against many global currencies. For example, WestJet’s super-budget flights from the UK to Canada will save British travellers hundreds of pounds on airfares and a strong exchange rate will contribute to making Canada an even more affordable destination. Elsewhere, the South African rand has hit an all-time low, meaning British tourists can save more on accommodation, food and drink than ever before”.

Hodges continued: “Our wildcard this year, the Seychelles, is often thought of as being well over budget for most people. However, don’t write this one off of your list just yet; the tourism board has been busy rebranding the destination as ‘Affordable Seychelles’ through 2015, so we think there will be some great deals to be had in paradise next year!”

Canada

Deal example: £159 -- Canada: Quebec City 2016 Ice-Hotel Stay, Save 30%

Why 2016 is the year to go: WestJet has recently announced new non-stop flights from London Gatwick to several Canadian destinations, including Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Vancouver, which will start in May, 2016. The airline is offering very competitive introductory rates, making it cheaper to travel to Canada than it has been for a long time. The exchange rate is also good at the moment, as you get CA$2 for every £1.

Israel

Deal example: £799pp -- Holy Land Escorted Trip w/Flights, Stays & Tours

Why 2016 is the year to go: Monarch has announced two new flight routes from London to Israel, starting in December, 2015. The direct flights will go to Tel Aviv or Ovda, with one-way flights available at launch from as little as £89 outbound and £49 inbound (including taxes). Ovda airport is only 45 minutes from Eilat. This Red Sea resort is still relatively unknown to most UK travellers, but Monarch’s new route makes it more accessible , and with almost-guaranteed year-round sunshine, it’s a great destination for sun seekers.

South Africa

Deal example: £1299pp -- Kruger & Panorama Route Trip w/Virgin Flights, Save £800

Why 2016 is the year to go: The rand has hit an all-time low, so you will get more for your money than ever before. Also, the England cricket team is scheduled to tour South Africa from 15 December, 2015 to 21 February, 2016. South Africa has a lot to offer UK travellers – take your pick from a city break in Cape Town (which also happens to be home to some of the country’s best beaches), try to spot the Big Five on a safari in Kruger National Park or opt for a relaxing holiday on one of the endless sandy beaches. Despite the relatively long flight time, South Africa is just two hours ahead of the UK, meaning jet lag is minimal!

Peru

Deal example: £659pp -- Peru: 5-Night Land-Only Tour inc Machu Picchu

Why 2016 is the year to go: British Airways is set to launch flights to Lima, Peru, in May next year, with three flights a week in summer and two in winter. This will be the first direct air link between the UK and Lima since 1982, and the only direct service from London, so visitors are sure to increase. This means the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu, both incredibly popular tourist destinations, will both be more accessible for British tourists than they have been for over 30 years.

The Seychelles

Deal example: £134 -- Seychelles: Ocean-View Room with Breakfast for 2

Why 2016 is the year to go: The Seychelles, which is made up of 115 islands, is often considered one of the most beautiful places in the world, with crystal-clear waters and knockout beaches. The tourism board has been busy this year rebranding the destination as ‘Affordable Seychelles’, in an effort to appeal to holidaymakers who feel that it’s out of their price range. The Seychelles has gradually become more well-known and accessible, helped by the Etihad Airways and Air Seychelles partnership and investment from the UEA, China and Russia.
